Short Bio
Jan was born July 3, 1949 in Los Angeles, California and at a young age appeared on the cover of a Newsweek magazine as a model. In 1971, Smither married an actor Kipp Whitman.
Although the marriage didn’t last long, it probably inspired Jan to pursue a career in acting as well. Her first role was in Love Story in 1973. Many more followed but she will be always remembered as Bailey Quarters in WKRP in Cincinnati.
