Melanie Janine Brown was born 29 May 1975 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK. Her mother is white English while her father is originally from Caribbean. For a short period of time, young Mel worked as a dancer in a holiday resort. After that, she joined girls music group Touch, that later changed it’s name to Spice Girls. This group had huge success in 1990’s. In 1999, the girls split and most of them (including Mel B) tried to continue as solo singers. Melanie also appeared in many TV shows, such as Dancing with the Stars, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and The X Factor UK. She was also hosting Miss Universe 2008 and 2013.
